Go Ateneo!
...and the UAAP Season 71 Srs. Basketball Championship Game ended in shade of BLUE :)
Yeah you read that right. Ateneo Blue Eagles won after beating the DLSU Green Archers in Game 2 with a score of 62-51. It's Ateneo's 4th UAAP championship, 2002 being their first win under Norman Black. According to Ateneo's point-guard Jai Reyes, Norman Black's advice for them is "Forget about everything, just play defense." which is what they did. Their defenses this season are far better than last year. I didn't get to watch the First Quarter because I went home late. What I just saw were a few minutes left before 2nd Quarter ends with the Blue Eagles leading more than half of the Green Archers' score.
Here comes the controversial part. In the 3rd Quarter, Rico Maierhofer, La Salle's only legitimate player, was ejected from the game due to a technical foul after giving Rabeh Al-Hussaini a "dirty" finger. Coach Franz Pumaren was obviously upset. Thanks to JV Casio, La
Salle made it 50-47 before ending the quarter. In the 4th Quarter, Eric Salamat was sprained. JV Casio was fouled out which is very unfortunate for La Salle for having two of its best players being fouled. Ateneo cheered with La Salle playing Casio-less and Maierhofer-less. :))The Green side of Araneta looked desolated after the Archers attempted a few 3-point shoot. Still, Ateneo's in the lead. Until the game ended with 62-51.
Nonoy Baclao won UAAP Finals MVP.
Ryan Buenafe being the Rookie of the Year.
Rabeh Al-Hussaini as MVP of the Season.
Wow! What more could they ask for? They've got Baclao, Al-Hussaini, Salamat, Reyes and TIU!!! :)
Too bad it's Tiu's last year. Di ko na pala siya maaabutan! xD
